Course details :
Distance: Mountain Run - 23km, Recreational Run 5km, 10km or 15km
|
Regional Park 10km Fun Run or Walk
Course Details – 5k, 10k & 15k Runs.
Starts at the Lake Tekapo Regional Park on the eastern side of Lake Tekapo on Lilybank Road. The course is on an established 5km track within the Regional Park, on a mix of surfaces and undulating. A good course for both beginners and those who have experience in off-road (short to middle distance) running.
Open to all ages.
Please note: this event will not be held in 2013
Registration: 9am – 10am (at Regional Park)
Briefing: at 10.50am (all runners for 5,10 & 15k events must attend)
Start Time: 11.00am -15k runners (3 x laps), 11.05am – 10k runners (2 x laps), and 11.10am – 5k runners.
Cost $10 (Junior) to $25 (Open)
23km Air Safaris Mt Edward Mountain Run
Course details – 23k Air Safaris Mt Edward Mountain Run.
Starts from the Lake Tekapo Regional Park on the eastern side of Lake Tekapo on Lilybank Road. This mountain run is for fit and experienced off-road (middle to long distance) runners. The couse starts in the regional park on well established tracks then moves quickly into open tussock country on rough 4WD farm tracks which are uneven and in places steep during ascent and decent. The course has a number of substantial climbs starting at an elevation of 715mtr rising to 1100mtrs at the turn off the Mt Edward ridge. A wind breaker and thermals must be worn (or carried) during the race and carry sufficient water.
Runners must be over 16years old.
Registration: 9am – 10am (at Regional Park)
Mt Edward Briefing: 10.30am (all mountain runners must attend)
Mt Edward Start Time: 10.45am
Cost $50 to $55

Race Rules
1. Everyone must show consideration for the race officials and other competitors.
Respect the use of private property by leaving gates as you find them, not
dropping rubbish and not spooking animals.
2. Race marshals directions must be strictly followed.
3. Thermals and wind proof jacket must be either worn or carried for the duration
of the event. Appropriate footwear and clothing must be worn (see rule 10)
4. Any competitor, who on medical grounds, requires emergency transport off
the course agrees to pay for all expenses incurred.
5.
There will be only one drink station on each running course. Runners on the Mountain run must carry their own water.
6. Race will be held regardless of the weather, organisers reserve the right to
change the course if necessary.
7. You must stay on the course, look out for signs and arrows!
8. Sorry no practise run, course is held on private property so farming takes
precedence!
9. Have fun and enjoy yourself.
10. Identified hazards on the course include, but are not limited to: uneven and
slippery surfaces, hidden rabbit holes, rocks, tussocks, stream crossings, loose
shingle, steep terrain, weather conditions can be extreme i.e. hot, cold, windy,
precipitation.
